Postscript is an interactive programming language with powerful graphics capabilities. It primary application is to describe the appearance of text, graphical shapes and sampled images on printed or display pages. It allows text to be scaled to any size or rotated to any angle without pain. It is a lot more powerful than an emulation type-printer control language such as HP's PCL. Some report in STARSol are generated with a postscript mirror file, which means that if the system detects that the report is being printed on a postscript capable laser printer, a better quality format will be printed instead of a sleepy ASCII report.
Postscript mirror reports are formatted using desktop publishing software on the Macintosh and are used by STARSol reports to produce high quality output complete with company logo and Code 3 of 9 barcode of the document number.
Say goodby to pre-printed forms.
